One of the discoveries I’ve made in the course of blogging on books is that I’m part of a much larger community of people who do this. And while of course I hope that I will continue to see more view and follow this blog, I’ve discovered some other interesting places where people are talking about and recommending books.
- Just today I came across “The 25 Best Tumblr Accounts for Book Nerds“. This includes author, publisher, indie bookstore, reading recommendation Tumblrs, and even a book art Tumblr.
- A few of the blogs I regularly follow either devoted to books or that include reviews of the kinds of books I enjoy reading are The Englewood Review of Books (which regularly highlights free or cheap e-books), Hearts and Minds Books (perhaps the best Indie Christian Bookstore anywhere!), Enough Light (Laura mixes reviews and thoughtful commentary on issues of Christian life and spirituality), and a site by a colleague, Walking the Path of Story.
- Then there are some websites (many of which you can also follow on Facebook) that post interesting stuff. Book Riot has lots of interesting lists and articles on books and publishing. Publishers Weekly has a number of articles about the publishing industry, new book releases, and they offer a collection of daily emails.
- I just began subscribing to the NY Times Book Review via my Kindle. I also get posts from the New York Review of Books and London Review of Books, and Chronicle of Higher Education on Facebook. I also have a print subscription to Books and Culture.
There are lots of others, and all of these I just scan for things that interest me (and sometimes for topics that I want to write on). Hope that puts you on to a few fun things you haven’t seen before. And I’d love to hear about the book blogs you follow!
